Brixton Rec upgrades to ZigZag’s second generation dance platforms
Brixton Recreation Centre has upgraded its dance mats to ZigZag’s second-generation Xer-Dance platforms.
The system is the most advance available in the UK, using ‘Pump it Up’ intelligent software that can run three levels of difficulty simultaneously, allowing all dancers to feel comfortable with their ability and have fun at the same time.
Brixton Recreation Centre launched its kids-only centre, The Zone, in October last year with ZigZag’s original Machine Dance system. But this month the centre switched to the company’s new eight-platform wireless Xer-Dance system to bring The Zone fully up to date.
Unlike the old system, the intelligent mats don’t need recharging as they run off three AAA batteries, which offer a full 1000 hours of dance time. The mats sense when not in play and simply switch themselves off. The mats can also sense if a player changes dance levels mid game and adjust the difficulty rating and scoring accordingly. Xer-Dance has licensed a range of current chart songs to engage all age ranges and music tastes.
Fergus Ahern, Director of ZigZag said: “The Zone has been a big investment for Brixton Recreation Centre and has already made a huge impact on the local community. We are proud to have been involved with this project from the beginning and are pleased that we have been able to ensure they are offering the most advanced dance system available in the UK.”
Daniel Hayward, Assistant Junior Wellness Manager for GLL, which manages the centre said: “The dance mats have been a huge success with children in the community. They have brought in kids who would not normally visit the centre as it is a different and funky way of working out”.
