£4m redevelopment for Bridgend Recreation Centre

Plans have been revealed for a £4m redevelopment of the Bridgend Recreation Centre in Bridgend, Mid Glamorgan, Wales.
The phased works are being funded by a partnership between Bridgend County Borough Council and Halo Leisure and will start later this month.
Improvements at the centre will include a new 80-station health and fitness club, three new exercise studios, a four court sports hall, an indoor climbing wall and conferencing facilities.
A day spa will also be added, with treatment rooms and wet areas including saunas, steamroom and spa pools.
The completion of the first phase - which includes the gym - has been set for mid 2013 with the final phase expected to be ready by mid 2014.
Jeremy Rowe, healthy partnership manager at Halo Leisure, said: "This refurbishment will take leisure provision in the county into the next decade and beyond, supporting everyone in the local community on their journey to a healthier way of living, whatever their age, ability or background."
The revamp as part of a management deal recently awarded to Halo and Greenwich Leisure.
The social enterprises were appointed by Bridgend County Borough Council last month to run leisure centres for up to 15 years, with the agreement to come into effect on 1 April.
