Feelgood Fitness hits Australia
Feelgood Fitness and Ladies Only Suite has opened an AU$500,000 (£243,000) flagship health club in the suburban town of Pakenham in Victoria, Australia – the chain’s first in the country.
The 697sq m (7,500sq ft) facility started trading at the beginning of July. Offering 80 stations of the latest Star Trac equipment, the new club also features a separate Spinning and boxing studio, cardio area, free weights area and ladies only suite.
The club already has a 1,100 membership base following a seven-week pre-sale campaign conducted by Creative Fitness Marketing. Membership starts at AU$60 per month (£29.50) and is geared towards the unfit 40+ member who feels intimidated by 'normal’ health clubs.
The club is the fourth in the group – owned by Dave Wright in conjunction with local partners – with the three existing UK clubs located in Grantham, Haverhill and Abingdon. Feelgood Fitness plans to open/acquire a further five clubs in Australia, New Zealand and the UK over the next 18 months.
